Hey everyone,
As promised, here's the "naughty list" of toxic, awful companies that you should avoid interviewing with or working for.
This is a LIVING document, which means I encourage you to share your stories. Hopefully, this list will help you avoid some negative experiences during your career journey. Finally, if you have had a POSITIVE experience with any of these companies, be sure to share as well— we want to be as fair as possible.
Here's the list:
- InDinero (or any other company owned by Jessica Mah, who is a terrible human being)
- Charles River Labs (Withdrawing offer because Ariane was Brazilian, offering Real instead of USD)
- Zazmic (Low pay, offering $30-35 USD per hour for devs)
- Better.com (Toxic management)
- Coinbase (Terrible leadership, layoffs, rescinding offers)
- Skip (This one: https://helloskip.com, refused to pay a former Verbalize Now student for three months)
- TUI (Toxic management)
- Avenue Code (Ghosting, underpaying, paying Brazilian wages for US work)
- Lemonade (Unprofessional hiring process, ghosting)
- Bairesdev (Ghosting, disorganization)
- Tripactions (Ridiculous hiring process, no remote work)
- Theorem One (Long, demanding tests, possibly making applicants work for free. Paid for challenge project time with a prepaid card)
- FullStack Labs (Tedious, inhuman hiring process, ghosting. FYI: Despite the bad review we received about this company from a student, we DO have another student who works here and is happy.)
- OK Roger (Ghosting)
- Equinix (Ghosting)

- Hero 99 (Ghosting)
